Marty Casey’s “Trees”
Wow. After Tuesday night’s Rock Star: INXS, I would run, not walk, to pick up Marty Casey’s single, “Trees,” if it were released somewhere other than the crappy MSN Music. (Who, exactly, thought that trying to sell music that’s as difficult to listen to on a portable device as humanly possible was a good idea?) Marty did a great job combining his signature passion with a too-seldom-glimpsed sense of humor in the song.
Otherwise, I thought everyone did OK, but everyone also failed to cover themselves in glory. I voted for Marty and Jordis.

I hate saying this but I actually think JD was the best tonight. He had the most energy and I thought his take on “Come as you are” was haunting and beautiful and his original was high octane and fun even though he came off as trying to hard to be a “rock star” at times. Everyone else was okay. Mig still is my front runner. He makes it look easy which I think hurt him last night. He was hurt by the song choice because there really is only one way to go with “Hard to Handle”. His original was nice from what I remember. I wish I could hear again without having to download it through msn which, I wont do.Marty was solid as usual but not outstanding. I really think Mig is the bettr fit for INXS and I think Marty should run away with the house band and continue to kick ass.
The ladies were, meh tonight. I really think Jordis is phoning it in at this point.
If you go to rickey.org you can down load videos of the performances and there are all sorts of video to mp3 converters out there. Just a thought.

And a VERY good thought it is. Thanks.
I agree about Jordis. She had been my front-runner, but I think Navarro had it right: She’s 22, she’s fried, and she’s emotionally ready to go, or at least taxiing towards the runway.
I think Mig would fit INXS like a glove.
I’m apparently the only person who found J.D.’s opening to “Come As You Are” affected and pretentious. I finally just TiVoed forward to the part where he started rocking.
At this point, I hate to say it, but the boys come off as more of the complete package than the girls. Mig, Marty and J.D. all fill the stage in the way that Hutchence used to (and the way that Axl Rose and Corey Glover used to).
Having said that, at this point, I think all of the final five will end up somewhere the national audience can see them, rather than show up on cruise ships and in theme park revues, which seems to be the destination for many of the AI also-rans.

The volume was all screwed up on that video. I bit the bullet and bought the song from MSN Music (they ended up uploading it along with JD’s song — they must have agreed it was the stronger tune), burned it to a CD and ripped it from the CD back into iTunes.
Too much trouble to do more than once. MSN Music needs to let the dream die of having music in only their proprietary (and non-portable, as far as I know) format.

I thought that Marty or Mig would better fit the winning place rather than JD because he was quite controlling at times when he was with the band he played with.
Marty rocks!! I love that song trees thanks for the lyrics beau!!
