Happy birthday, Jenn!
Happy 29th, bebe.
We are celebrating the traditional way: By taking the kittens to the vet to be fixed.
(Well, we also went out for a nice breakfast at Shelly’s Place, an OK salad lunch at the Green Tree Inn and Wendy’s for dinner after the school board meeting. I also got her two original pages from “Wonder Woman” #162 custom-framed.)
- Well, here’s a surprise: Lucky has no ovaries. This is because Lucky is a boy.
- More fun with cats. (Source.)

Yea! Happy Birthday, Jenn! 29! 20. 9????? Ye gods, I feel old.
And Beau’s right… nothing says “Happy Birthday” like spaying/neutering your pet…
Waitaminute. Jenn, when did Beau become Bob Barker?

I am so shocked. How can Lucky be a boy? It would explain a lot, but I watched him/her groom the midsection yesterday and I did not see anything that looked like male gentalia.
Well, good thing Lucky is a gender neutral name! I am having a very good laugh here.
No, really, they must have gotten Lucky mixed up with another cat. I’m still in shock and cannot process how we’ve could have had the cats since November and not notice something as simple as the gender.
And thanks for the birthday wishes!

Hmm. Could he be a XXY cat? About 1 in 11,000 cats have that unusual combo. (Yes, I know weird things, though I did google the statistic to confirm.)

He has (well, had) fuzzy little balls. I just never knew whether things that looked sort of like that were in the standard variation range for, ahem, pussy parts.

I thought of the XXY thing cause XXY cats sometimes (though not always) have less well developed parts (in some cases they have both sets, but again, not always). But it sounds like he was in the standard variation, just smallish.
The whole retractable thing just makes it so much harder to tell.

I guess this pose really was unladylike for Lucky.

Happy (Belated) Birthday! Getting up there myself, only one week to go until my 28th 🙂
Incidentally, we had the exact same thing happen with one of our cats. We were told that he was a girl when we got him and never had a reason to doubt that until a few months later when we saw some decidedly non-feminine anatomy. Unfortunately he wasn’t lucky enough to have a name that’d work for either gender and we were too attached to his name to call him anything else, so the poor guy has to go through life with the name “Tika.”

Happy Birthday, Jenn!
And let me just say that Lucky definitely qualifies as a finalist in the Ironic Names contest.
