It’s my fault. The paper should make it out, but I am openly not adept at Adobe In-Design or all the ins and outs of how it’s been set up for putting out the Hesperia Star. I suspect know some of the fonts will be different than the usual ones used.
So blame me.
Oh, and I ran out of room for Soduku and the crossword, too. Sorry!
So, all those reviews that not enough of you read and furiously click your approval of? Well, next week, Amazon launches a new program to prime the pump with early reviews, Amazon Vine, and it’s invitation-only. And apparently, I just made the cut.
I’m a little unclear whether there will be free stuff with this program, or whether it’s just a chance to buy stuff early with the understanding that I’ll be writing a review of said stuff when I’m done. Amazon has also promised that whether the reviews are good or bad, it’s all good, so long as there are reviews for select products when they’re released, presumably to stimulate conversation and debate about said products.
We’ll see how this works on the 15th.
My niece, Kate, is two years old today.
If you’re reading this, Kate, go to bed.
I know, not a lot of new blog posts this week. Peter’s out of town on a well-deserved vacation, and that means I have to assemble the paper. Easier said than done, since the last time I did a lot of page composition was back in college and, frankly, I wasn’t very good at it back then. And, unfortunately, many of the Daily Press’ page layout staff are also on vacation this week, so I’ll be on the tightrope without much of a net.
If next week’s paper comes out on photocopied pieces of paper, stapled together, blame me.
You say you’re looking for good podcasts, but don’t know where to look?
The Podcast Awards is an OK starting place. I listen to the Grammar Girl podcast, which is nominated for two awards, watch Tiki Bar TV, and listen to Marketplace, This Week in Tech and Science Friday. I plan on checking out a fair number of the other nominees as well.
