How fast can you type the alphabet?

Find out here. I’m going to try a few more (dozen) times before I post my time. For a guy who can type more than 100 words per minute when I’m in the zone, these scores are exasperating.

  1. I’m not sure about the accuracy of some of those scores, although I guess they’re possible. For someone to type 26 characters in one second (like the top scores indicate), they would be typing at 312 words per minute (assuming that one word in the standard typing test equals 5 keystrokes). If you’re typing at 90-120 words per minute, then you should be getting around 2.5-3.5 seconds. That’s how long it took me, although the application ran slow so it clocked me in at 7.7(!) seconds, which isn’t right. I tried it again using my tokyo clock and word, and it was 3 seconds.
