2/15 City Council meeting

Well, I was right: A ton of people did show up at tonight’s Hesperia City Council meeting, and it did go longish. I counted two extra rows of folding chairs put out for the audience and a total turn-out just shy of 150 residents, not including city, fire and police staff who have to be there. But not everyone spoke, and I got out of there at what would be an early time for a school board meeting.

Memo to self: Be very happy that I don’t write editorials, just news stories.

  1. The editorial makes your town sound like Deadwood. And I’m surprised that there’s no local police. Heck, my little ol’ hometown in Washington of 1000 people has it’s own police department. They got cars and everything. I think they have guns.

Also, I noticed a certain ‘bias’ in the editorial. Why the demand for law enforcement? Why not get a superhero in there instead? The clear anti-superhero bias of your modern Deadwood is disheartening to this Metropolisite … Metropolisian … Metropole? Anyway, I’m from Metropolis and you guys need superheroes. Just saying.

  2. Too bad that Peter is pissed off at the police just because HIS car was stolen..
….oh yea, that’s right…stolen twice. Bummer. The budget allows for five
more cops this year and some support personnel, that is a good thing. Maybe
someone in power could assign Peter his own personal police officer, kinda like
what another certain citizen expects the council to do on Tamarisk Avenue.

  3. Too bad there has been 3 robberies in my neighborhood in the last year!! 17% is a huge increase, and totally unexceptable. I have had to buy a gun just to feel a tiny bit safer in this town. Yes, this is the modern day Deadwood. Jim Lindley is Cy Tolliver. Five more cops at $1million. How about 4 times that!!

  4. Who’s the citizen on Tamarisk? Oh, and I guess according to Jim if you get your car stolen twice in one year in Hesperia you should just shut your mouth and be a good little citizen. I for one expect more from the city and its leaders and blame them the little LA they are creating.
