Average Temperatures and Attendance Trends for Disneyland
When we went to Disneyland this past weekend, the crowds were pretty mild (except for literal bumper-to-bumper traffic on the reopened Pirates of the Caribbean ride), but it got me thinking: Surely there were even better days to go to the park.
And that’s what the Internet is for: Average Temperatures and Attendance Trends for Disneyland. Clearly, this is what the Internet is for. (Thanks, Al Gore!)
Going the week after Thanksgiving, or in January, sounds pretty good to me.

So I was in Orlando last month for a MSFT conference and before I left, my sister – who lives on the coast – and I blitzkrieged the Magic Kingdom just like we always wanted to when the relatives would take us to Disneyland back when were we young… Meaning, no adult supervision and running like fiends, despite the 90 degree heat 90% humidity.
What great fun. “Pirates” was a bit of a let down, frankly, feeeling like the movie was just kinda plopped into it. The AC was nice, singing “yo ho yo ho” along with my sis a bunch of fun, if only for the stares from the other riders.
Everything else was great. Love the Fast Pass system. Wish they had a Matterhorn.
[I am purposefully not commenting on “Stitch’s Intearctive Whatever”, a ride so lame it rivals the Universal Studios debacle Jonah roped us into years ago with the “ET” ride…]
And the Tea Cups? Man, you get 2 adults in that thing working the wheel? FRIGGIN’ AWESOME.

Jenn and I really thought the pirates additions worked well with the ride, although I think taking out the Wicked Wench’s old captain entirely was a mistake. I would have changed his costume, made him the first mate and intercut his dialogue with Barbossa’s.
I think Sparrow at the end of the ride was awesome and liked him looking on at the mayor’s dunking. (The barrel one was eh.)
The Davey Jones smoke waterfall was a neat effect but yeah, it was forgettable.
Jenn and I split on the sign-turned-map at the start of the ride. She liked the old sparkly “Pirates of the Caribbean” sign, but I liked them turning it into a treasure map of Isla Tresoro.
And yeah, Disneyworld desperately needs a Matterhorn. The first time I rode it was when I moved to California and I was flabbergasted that Disney had a cool rollercoaster for years (Space Mountain has always, always sucked) and that they didn’t bother putting it in both parks.
And I hear ya on the Fastpass, although we used ours on the Indiana Jones ride this time, a ride that apparently only I have any remaining affection for.

Space Mountain at ‘World was actually pretty fun only because it was so dark and the cars are single seaters in a row.
Animal Kingdon just got Everest, so I suspect that is as close as FL will get to having a Matterhorn…

There’s the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at MGM, too. It’s much better than Space Mountain.

Hey, I like the Indiana Jones ride, but really, the long wait usually negates the fun factor. It’s not THAT good.

Attendance has increased quite a bit over the years

Pirates of the Caribbean is way better at Disneyland than at Walt Disney World, but I am glad the attraction is at both parks.
